Block Charm

Block Charm grants the equipped unit 1 Shell at the start. Shell absorbs incoming damage before HP is reduced. While 1 Shell is a small amount, it represents a guaranteed free hit absorption.

Rating: C

Block Charm is the weakest of the Shell-granting charms — only 1 Shell versus Acorn Charm's 8 Shell. In most contexts, this charm is a downgrade compared to other defensive options and is generally considered a filler choice.

However, 1 Shell is still 1 Shell. It can absorb exactly 1 point of damage, which in theory can prevent a killing blow in a scenario where the unit would otherwise die with 1 HP. This "last stand" scenario is rare but exists.

The primary problem is that 1 Shell depletes after the first hit, leaving the unit completely unprotected for the rest of the battle. Against enemies with multiple attacks or high damage, this minimal protection is negligible.

If offered between Block Charm and Acorn Charm, always take Acorn Charm. Block Charm is primarily valuable as a stepping stone — use it early in a run if no better defensive options exist, then replace it with something stronger when possible.

How to Use / What to Put On

If you must use Block Charm, place it on a critical unit that needs just a little extra buffer — your leader or a key support unit. The 1 Shell may be enough to survive one fatal hit in a pinch.

Avoid investing in builds that rely on Block Charm for meaningful defense.

Good Synergy

  • Bite Charm: Even 1 Shell gives a tiny buffer to trigger Teeth once more
  • Multiple Block Charms stacked on one unit via Chuckle Charm can accumulate meaningful Shell total
  • Nourish Charm: Any Shell at all gives a moment for Nourish to trigger on a subsequent hit
