Pimento

Basic Info

  • Tribe: Snowdwellers
  • Attack: 2
  • HP: 7
  • Counter: 4
  • Effect: Retains Spice (Spice is not consumed when attacking)

Rating

A-tier long-game carry with infinite Spice scaling. Normally, Spice is consumed on the first attack after it's applied — a temporary damage buff. On Pimento, Spice is permanent. Every Spice applied to Pimento stays forever, stacking additively. Pyra's Spice 4 Reaction = +4 permanent Attack on Pimento. Apply it twice = +8 permanent Attack. Dragon Pepper (Spice 7) on Pimento = +7 permanent Attack from a single item. By late Act 2, Pimento routinely reaches 15–20 Attack at Counter 4 with consistent Spice income.

He scales harder the longer the run continues. Early game he's a 2-Attack companion with average output. By Act 3 bosses, he's the run's primary damage dealer — every fight since Act 1 has been contributing to his permanent stack.

How to Use

Funnel all Spice income to Pimento. Any Spice applied to other allies is lost on their first attack; Spice applied to Pimento is a permanent investment. Prioritize Spice items and charms for Pimento over other allies, even strong ones. The compounding return makes this the correct call.

Position Pimento in Pyra's Spice range. Pyra behind Pimento (with Pimento in the row ahead of Pyra) means each Pyra Reaction trigger applies Spice 4 permanently to Pimento. Over a fight with 3 Pyra triggers, Pimento gains +12 permanent Attack from positioning alone.

Counter 4 is acceptable for a carry at his Attack levels. When Pimento is at 12+ Attack and Counter 4, he deals 12 damage every 4 turns — which exceeds most dedicated attackers. Counter-reduction charms turn this into 12 damage every 3 turns, a significant throughput increase for the investment.

Advanced Techniques

Dragon Pepper on Pimento = +7 permanent Attack from one item. Dragon Pepper applies Spice 7. On most companions, that's one powerful hit then gone. On Pimento, it's +7 to his Attack permanently. Use Dragon Pepper on Pimento whenever available, preferably in Act 1 to compound across more fights.

Spice Stone doubles the value of every Spice source. Spice Stone (event/item that doubles Spice received) means Pyra's Spice 4 becomes Spice 8, Dragon Pepper becomes Spice 14. On Pimento, these are all permanent. A single Spice Stone + Dragon Pepper combination gives Pimento +14 permanent Attack from two cards.

Protect Pimento aggressively. His accumulated Attack is lost if he dies. HP charms and Shell applications are worth more on Pimento than on any other ally because they protect the entire investment. Before Act 3 boss fights, use all healing items on Pimento first.

Good Synergy Cards & Charms

  • Pyra — Spice 4 Reaction permanently stacks on Pimento; position Pimento in front of Pyra for continuous passive Attack growth
  • Dragon Pepper — Spice 7 item = +7 permanent Attack on Pimento from one card; highest-value single item in a Pimento run
  • Spice Stone — doubles all Spice received; Spice 4 becomes Spice 8 permanently, accelerating scaling dramatically
  • HP-up charms — protects the accumulated Attack investment from being lost to enemy damage
  • Counter-reduction charms — Pimento at 15+ Attack on Counter 3 instead of Counter 4 is a meaningful DPS gain
