Beginner's Guide
Ball x Pit
Game Flow Overview
Aim and fire balls with the mouse to eliminate enemies. Balls bounce off walls, stacking synergy bonuses.
Between rounds, construct and upgrade buildings in New Ballbylon. Mix economy, defense, and offense structures.
After each round, pick from ball, passive, or character upgrades. Choose what fits your current build.
Each stage ends with a boss fight. Read its fixed patterns to minimize hits while keeping your balls in contact.
The run ends when your HP hits 0 or you defeat the final boss. Losses still earn meta currency for permanent upgrades.
Endless Mode (added in the Regal Update) continues indefinitely after the standard 8 stages. Clear normal mode first to learn the build fundamentals before attempting Endless.
Get Started in 6 Steps
Learn the controls and ball basics
Aim with the mouse, fire balls at enemies, and treat the first few stages as a tutorial.
Clear Stage 1 with a single ball type
Stick to the starter ball and prioritize upgrades that increase ball count to feel out the rhythm.
Test elemental synergies
From Stage 2, mix elements (Fire / Ice / Lightning) and read how synergies activate in practice.
Pick a build direction
Choose between burst, multi-hit engine, or status-stack, then tailor every synergy item to that direction.
Stay out of melee in boss fights
Bosses telegraph charges and melee. Hold a distance where your balls keep bouncing into them.
Spend meta currency on permanent upgrades
After each run, unlock permanent upgrades to widen your viable builds and stabilize future runs.
Beginner Tips
Early on, prioritize base ball upgrades over fusions. Raising projectile count, speed, and damage provides stability.
In New Ballbylon, construct currency/resource buildings first to build an economic foundation that widens later options.
Egg Sac and Brood Mother generate baby balls on hit, compounding rapidly. Pair with the Couple character for explosive results.
Spreading across many elements dilutes your synergies. Commit to 1–2 elements early and stack related passives.
Before each boss, pick up defensive passives (healing, shields) from shops and upgrade screens.
Healing timing varies by stage. Track building heal sources and upgrade-screen heals to enter boss fights at full HP.
Evolutions require specific source balls. Once your build is set, target 1–2 evolutions and collect the required components.
Meta upgrades can't be undone, but every unlock widens your viable builds. Invest gradually across your early runs.
FAQ
Early on, take the basic ball with the most projectile-count upgrades. Elemental balls are synergy-dependent, so unlock them only after committing to a build.
Active synergies change the projectile VFX and damage numbers. Read each item description and confirm you have at least two matching elemental items.
Bosses telegraph fixed patterns. Sidestep their dash and burst during their recovery frames. Cutting hits taken to 1-2 makes the fight far easier.
In-run picks are situational; meta upgrades are permanent. Spend meta currency aggressively early — it unlocks build variety that stabilizes future runs.
Set your core direction by stages 2–3, then specialize from stage 5 onward. Switching too late leaves you with a half-built setup going into boss fights.
Combine specific source balls through the Fusion system to produce an evolution. Check the Evolution menu for required components and upgrade the source balls first.
Pick one that complements your main build. For bounce builds, Ascetic (90° deflection) is ideal. For pierce builds, Sinner (bounce damage +%) is a great complement.
Early game: economy / resource buildings. Mid game: ball and synergy boosters. Late game: healing and defense for boss survival. Adjust based on your chosen build direction.
