Rating & Analysis
Drunkard is a simple +1 Discard Joker — small but stable. At Common rarity and only $4, it provides permanent discard count without the -1 hand penalty Merry Andy carries, making it the safer pick when you need a single extra discard.
The optimal play is as discard-axis support. Combined with Yorick / Burnt Joker / Hit the Road / DNA, Drunkard raises the discard ceiling. Red Deck (+1) + Merry Andy (+3) + Drunkard (+1) = 9 discards per round — extreme discard-spam play.
Drunkard takes one Joker slot, so prioritize only when committed to a discard-axis build. Pairs interestingly with Banner (rewards saved discards): the extra discard raises Banner's potential ceiling. Tier lists rate Drunkard B+ in discard builds. The $4 cost is very cheap, but build alignment is mandatory.
Good Joker Synergies
| Joker | Why |
|---|---|
| Yorick | +1 Mult per 5+ discards — Drunkard helps reach the threshold. |
| Burnt Joker | Levels first-discard hand — wider hand-leveling pool. |
| Hit the Road | +x0.5 per Jack discarded — more discards = more triggers. |
| DNA | Single-card play needs reshape capacity. |
| Merry Andy | Stacks for total +4 discards. |
| Banner | +30 Chips per remaining discard — higher ceiling. |
Recommended Builds
| Build | Core Loop | Target Consumables |
|---|---|---|
| Discard-axis support | Drunkard + Yorick / Burnt / Hit the Road | Enhancement Tarots |
| Extreme spam | Red Deck + Merry Andy + Drunkard = 9 discards | Enhancement Tarots |
| Banner combo | Save discards → maximize Banner +chips | Enhancement Tarots |
| DNA + Drunkard | Single-play builds with reshape support | DNA-supporting hands |
Tips & Usage
- Best used as reinforcement to an existing discard-axis build.
- $4 is cheap, but useless without discard-leveraging Jokers.
- Stack with Merry Andy + Red Deck for 9 discards/round of dominance.
- Drunkard has no hand penalty, making it safer than Merry Andy.
- Joker slot cost is real — don't take Drunkard if other Jokers offer more.
Caveats
- Solo effect is modest — discard utilization is mandatory.
- Burglar (zeros discards) cancels Drunkard's bonus.
- Perishable Drunkard is risky — buff vanishes on expiry.
- Builds without discard-leveraging Jokers waste Drunkard.
- Late-game sell value $1 — consider selling for economy if synergy fades.
