A curse with the Ethereal keyword. It goes to the discard pile at end of turn after you draw it, so it only clogs your hand for a single turn. With no extra damage or debuff, it ranks as the mildest curse in the game. Because it isn't Unremovable, it can be purged at shops or events, but since Ethereal cleans it up on its own, removal priority is extremely low. If you have to accept a curse, getting Clumsy is the lucky draw. Accepting Clumsy in exchange for a relic in the "This or That?" event is essentially a no-risk pick.
Sources and Related Events
- Event "This or That?": choosing "This" adds Clumsy to your deck in exchange for a random relic. Relics are very valuable and Clumsy is almost harmless, so this is almost always the correct pick. The other option is losing 6 HP for 41-68 gold
- Drawn from the random curse pool used by various events and relics
- Included in the pool of two random curses granted by Ancient Vakuu's blessing "Sere Talon"
Counterplay and Play Pattern
- No counter needed: Ethereal discards it automatically
- Shop removal: 75g+. Rarely worth the gold. Only consider it if no better targets exist
- Blue Candle: can be played for 1 HP to Exhaust it, but Ethereal clears it for free anyway
- Omamori: too valuable to spend blocking Clumsy; save charges for dangerous curses
Good Synergies
- Fire Breathing (Ironclad): deals damage whenever you draw Clumsy, turning the curse into an attack source
- Darkstone Periapt: +6 Max HP on curse acquisition. Clumsy has almost no downside, so this is a pure gain
- Du-Vu Doll: +1 Strength per curse in deck. Since Clumsy doesn't need removal, you can keep it purely as a Strength buffer
