Rating

Danger: C Rank

Greed is Unremovable so you can't delete it from the deck, but it has no additional effect - just a simple hand-clogger. On turns you draw it your hand is one smaller, with no damage or debuff. Among Unremovable curses, it's extremely mild - nowhere near as punishing as Bad Luck or Pain. Thickening the deck alone significantly reduces draw frequency, keeping real damage limited. Trading Greed for 333g from Neow's Pearl or for 3 relics from the Bell is a very reasonable deal given how tame Greed is.

Sources and Related Events

  • Neow's blessing "Cursed Pearl": adds Greed to your deck for 333 gold. Early-game 333g is very strong, funding relic purchases or card removal - one of the most efficient curse trades thanks to Greed's low cost
  • Event "Sunken Treasury": choose between a small chest (52-67g) and a grand chest (303-363g + Greed). The 300+ gold reward is large, and Greed is mild enough to accept in most situations
  • Ancient Darv's blessing "Tolling Bell": grants 1 Bell Curse and 3 relics. The curse granted is Bell Curse, not Greed, but the two share the same "Unremovable, no effect" profile and are useful comparisons

Counterplay and Play Pattern

  • Unremovable blocks deck removal. Decide purely on the value of the source event or trade
  • Thicken the deck: adding cards lowers draw frequency. At 30+ cards, the effect becomes negligible
  • Blue Candle: Unremovable blocks the Exhaust, but you can still play it for 1 HP to clear a hand slot temporarily
  • Often ignorable: with no trigger, a reasonably sized deck can simply move on

Good Synergies

  • Blue Candle: Unremovable prevents Exhaust, but you can still spend 1 HP to clear a hand slot
  • Fire Breathing (Ironclad): damage on each Greed draw - turns the curse into an attack source
  • Darkstone Periapt: +6 Max HP on curse acquisition. Since Greed has essentially no downside, this is pure gain
  • Du-Vu Doll: +1 Strength at combat start per curse in deck. Hold Greed and bank the Strength buff
