Rating

Danger: B Rank

A Status that deals 2 damage at end of turn if it's in your hand. Same effect as the curse Decay - per-trigger damage is small, but with multiple copies the cumulative total stings. It doubles up as a hand-clogger and a damage source. Without Ethereal, even after reaching the discard pile, it cycles back through your deck. Flame-themed enemies often apply several Burns at once; 3-5 copies can produce 6-10 damage per turn.

Sources and Related Enemies

  • Added to your deck by slag and flame enemies (such as Torch Heads). Their attack patterns often apply multiple copies at once
  • Some elite enemies dump huge quantities of Burn into your deck
  • Status cards exist only during combat and are removed automatically after combat ends

Counterplay and Play Pattern

  • Medical Kit: play the Status to Exhaust it. The best way to purge Burn and Block the damage
  • Evolve (Ironclad): extra draw on Status draw, converting Burn's downside into draw
  • Empty your hand: playing everything and leaving only Burn still triggers damage, but minimizes losses overall
  • Quick finish: kill Burn-applying enemies early. Longer fights stack its damage

Good Synergies

  • Medical Kit: play Burn to Exhaust it. The most effective counter
  • Evolve (Ironclad): extra draw on Status draw, converting Burn into draw
  • Fire Breathing (Ironclad): damage on Status draw, turning Burn's cost into offense
  • Feel No Pain (Ironclad): Block when Medical Kit Exhausts Burn
