The Insatiable
Moves
Basic Info
- HP: 321 (Ascension: 341)
- Appears in: Lair
- Passive: Ant Lion (starts at count 4, decreases each turn, instant death at 0)
The Ant Lion countdown is the core threat. HP 321 is high, but more importantly the mechanic where reaching count 0 means instant death dominates the entire fight. At heart it's a DPS race — whether you can kill it before the count runs out decides the match.
Attack Patterns
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Liquefy Ground | Apply debuff |
| Rampage | Multi-hit attack |
| Pounce Bite | Heavy damage |
Ant Lion count starts at 4 at combat start and decreases every turn. Reaching 0 is game over on the spot.
At combat start, a card called Desperate Escape is added to your draw pile. Playing it resets the Ant Lion count and dodges the instant-kill. Desperate Escape costs Energy, though, so playing it means fewer resources for attacking that turn.
The attack pattern loops buff -> multi-hit -> heavy damage while stacking permanent Strength. Each swing hurts more as the fight drags on, making an early finish even more important.
Strategy
Ant Lion count management is the top priority. At count 1, the next turn is extremely dangerous unless you have Desperate Escape in hand (or can guarantee drawing it). Always know how many Desperate Escape copies are in your deck and where they are in draw/discard.
Exhausting Desperate Escape removes your Ant Lion reset. If you can't close the kill within count, it's instant death. When using Exhaust-effect cards or relics, take extreme care not to eat Desperate Escape.
Since it's a pure DPS race, deck construction has to prioritize damage. Defense-heavy decks run out of count before the kill. Rampage and Pounce Bite damage still can't be ignored, so you need a balance — minimum Block while focusing on offense.
Permanent Strength stacking means each cycle hurts more. Minimize how many times you rely on Desperate Escape to extend the fight.
Character-Specific Counterplay
- Ironclad: Ideal matchup for burning HP fast. Strength buffs deliver big hits inside the Ant Lion count. Deck-thinning ensures reliable Desperate Escape draws.
- Silent: Poison chip damage works against high HP. With enough Poison stacked, a strategy of resetting count via Desperate Escape while Poison chips to kill becomes viable. High draw means low risk of missing Desperate Escape.
- Defect: Orb auto-damage chips HP reliably every turn. Adding draw cards to deck management makes Desperate Escape easier to find. Dark Orb farming may not finish in time given the count pressure.
- Necrobinder: Combined minion damage produces high burst. Even on turns where Desperate Escape eats Energy, minion auto-attacks still fire.
- Regent: Power chip damage is stable against high HP. Deploy Powers early so damage doesn't stop even on Desperate Escape turns.
