Slay the Spire 2 Event Choice Guide
Baseline Approach to Events
The right event choice depends on your situation. Here's what I weigh when deciding.
Decision Inputs
- Current HP: if HP is low, skip any choice with real downside damage
- Deck state: do you need more cards or fewer?
- Remaining map: if a Rest Site is close, HP-cost options are easier to accept
- Gold: if a Shop is coming up, lean toward Gold rewards
General Priority
- Relic > Card removal > Card add > Gold > HP heal
- But if your HP is low, HP heal jumps to the top
- Be cautious with Curses: only accept one if you have a way to remove it
Event Tendencies by Act
Act 1 Events
Act 1 events are low risk on average. Take the Relic and card chances when they show up.
- HP-cost options: acceptable early while you still have an HP cushion
- Card adds: valuable because your deck is still thin
- Gold: funds Act 1 Shop Relic purchases
Act 2 Events
Act 2 events swing harder in both directions. Slow down and think.
- HP-cost options: avoid them if Elites already chewed through your HP
- Card removal: deck compression is extremely valuable at this stage
- Relics: Act 2 Relics are often very strong
Act 3 Events
Act 3 is your final tuning pass before the boss. Pick whatever tightens the deck.
- Card removal: last chance to thin the deck for the boss
- HP heal: save HP for the boss fight
- Risk avoidance: a bad loss here wastes the whole run
Dealing With Curses
- Curses clog the deck and make draws worse
- Before accepting one, confirm you have a removal option (Shop, event, card effect)
- If the reward is big enough (a Relic, for instance), accepting can still be correct
- Some Relics and cards turn Curses into upside
