Bombom

Basic Info

  • Attack: 5
  • HP: 4
  • Counter: 5
  • Effect: Deal 5 damage to self and all allies in the row; Barrage

Rating

C-tier high-risk AoE attacker. Bombom's Barrage means every activation hits all enemies in the opposing row — 5 damage to every target simultaneously. On paper this is strong wave-clear. In practice, the 5 self-damage and ally-damage make him one of the most dangerous companions to deploy in the wrong context.

The self-hit and row-ally hit occur every time Bombom activates. Any ally placed in the same row takes 5 damage. Bombom himself takes 5 damage — at 4 HP, he dies on his first activation unless he has Block. Runs that can give Bombom a Block source (Shell charm, shield item) before his first Counter 5 fires change the math significantly: Bombom survives the self-damage once per Block charge, and with sustained healing he can persist.

In a solo-Bombom row (no allies beside him), the ally-damage issue disappears. The 5 self-damage remains, but a well-charmed Bombom with HP investment can fire twice in a fight before going down — 5 damage Barrage twice clears most wave compositions outright.

How to Use

Never put allies in the same row as Bombom unless those allies have substantial HP and can absorb the 5 splash damage per activation. The cleanest setup is isolating Bombom in a row alone: all 5 damage hits enemies, no ally casualties.

Counter 5 is slow — Bombom fires once, maybe twice in a standard fight. Building around this means ensuring maximum value from those one or two activations. Spice buffs on Bombom raise both his Attack and his Barrage damage: Spice 3 on Bombom deals 8 damage Barrage to the entire enemy row in one shot. This is fight-ending in wave stages.

The self-damage problem has a clean solution: Block before Counter 5 fires. Any item or charm that grants Block to Bombom lets him survive his own explosion once. Regenerate effects (passive HP recovery) allow additional firings. He's specifically strong in Clunkmaster runs that can supply Block from mechanical sources.

Despite the complexity, Bombom is available to all tribes, meaning any run that stumbles into solid Block support can use him effectively. Without that support, he's a glass-cannon that kills himself.

Good Synergy Cards & Charms

  • Block/Shell charms — keep Bombom alive through his own self-damage; mandatory for sustained use
  • HP-up charms — each HP point above 4 provides buffer against self-damage accumulation
  • Spice items — Spice raises Bombom's Attack, which scales the Barrage damage against all enemies simultaneously; one Spice 3 application can mean 8 AoE per activation
  • Healing effects — any passive regeneration sustains Bombom across multiple Counter 5 activations
  • Row-isolation strategy — placing no allies beside Bombom eliminates friendly-fire while retaining full enemy Barrage
