A-tier scaling tank-attacker. Gojiber combines two powerful mechanics: damage equal to his current HP (so at full 6 HP he deals 3 + 6 = 9 total damage per activation), and Smackback (counterattack when hit). Smackback fires his full damage value — including the HP-scaling bonus — every time an enemy hits him without killing him. In a single fight against an enemy with Counter 2, Gojiber can fire Smackback 3–4 times before his own Counter 4 activates, dealing 9 damage per Smackback.
The mechanic creates an interesting tension: Gojiber's additional damage decreases as he takes hits and loses HP, but Smackback means he's firing back every time he's hit. At 3 HP remaining, his total damage drops to 3+3=6 — still respectable — but each Smackback at that point deals 6 damage. Against enemies that attack him repeatedly, the total damage output across Smackback triggers often exceeds what a straightforward attacker would produce.
He's available to all tribes, making him a universally competitive draft pick. The challenge is managing HP loss: charms and items that restore HP keep his bonus damage high throughout the fight.
How to Use
Front-row placement enables Smackback and is natural for Gojiber given his 6 HP. Every enemy attack on him triggers Smackback at full current power, so let enemies come to him. The primary goal is maximizing HP at the time of each activation.
Healing synergizes uniquely with Gojiber: restoring HP before he activates restores his bonus damage. A +2 HP heal applied between his Counter 4 activation and the enemies' next hit means his Smackback fires at 8+ total damage again rather than whatever reduced HP he had.
Attack charms stack on top of the HP bonus. At 4 Attack with 6 HP: 4+6=10 damage per activation and per Smackback. This makes Attack charms on Gojiber among the most efficient in the game — they increase damage from both sources simultaneously.
Gojiber is particularly effective in Clunkmaster and Shademancer runs that have healing infrastructure. Snowdweller healing (from The Baker or similar) also pairs well. In any run with heal-over-time effects, Gojiber maintains his bonus damage longer than in a dry run.
Advanced Techniques
Smackback timing with high-HP: Position Gojiber behind a low-HP ally who absorbs the first few hits. When that ally falls, Gojiber moves to front row at near-full HP, maximizing his bonus damage for every Smackback that follows.
Counter vs. HP optimization: Gojiber's damage-per-fight is roughly: (base Counter activations × total damage) + (Smackback triggers × total damage at that HP). Reducing Counter from 4 to 3 increases his own activations, which may matter less than keeping HP high if enemies attack him frequently. Evaluate based on fight length.

- HP-up charms — each HP point directly raises Gojiber's bonus damage; best scaling charm on him
- Attack charms — adds to both his own activation damage and Smackback value
- Healing items / Bonnie — restoring HP mid-fight restores bonus damage; essential for boss fights
- Lupa — Lupa's boost effect on Gojiber can raise HP or Attack, both of which increase damage output
- Naked Gnome — counter acceleration gets Gojiber's own activations firing more often while he sustains HP
