Rating
Danger: A Rank
An ugly curse that stacks Innate and Unremovable. Innate guarantees it appears in your opening hand every combat, effectively making your turn-1 hand only 4 cards. Unremovable blocks shop and event removal, so you're stuck with it forever. It has no damage or debuff, but turn 1 - when you most need to balance defense and offense - is the worst slot to lose a card in. Opening elite or boss fights down a card directly delays your setup.
Sources and Related Events
- Ancient's blessing "Preserved Frog": removes 5 cards from your deck at the cost of gaining Folly. 5-card removal is extremely strong, but weigh it against Folly's permanent cost - the value climbs if deck thinning is nearly done
- May appear in the Unremovable slot of random curse effects
Counterplay and Play Pattern
- Unremovable, so deck removal is impossible. Before accepting, carefully judge whether the 5-card removal outweighs Folly's permanent downside
- Add draw cards: turn-1 draw softens the hand-size loss
- Blue Candle: play for 1 HP to remove it from hand. Unremovable blocks the Exhaust, but it still clears the turn-1 clog
- Builds that don't rely on turn 1: Power-heavy or scaling decks mind the turn-1 loss less
Good Synergies
- Blue Candle: play Folly for 1 HP every fight. Since Innate guarantees it shows up turn 1, Blue Candle handles it reliably
- Fire Breathing (Ironclad): damage each time Folly is drawn. Because Innate triggers every fight, a stable extra damage source
- Du-Vu Doll: +1 Strength per curse in deck. Always present due to Unremovable, giving a reliable Strength buff
- Draw-extending cards: replace the lost card on turn 1
