Act 3 Boss Basics

Act 3 bosses are the biggest wall in the game. This is the final exam for your deck, and clearing it ends the run.

Shared Strategy Points

  • Deck completeness is everything: If the build is correct up to here, you can win
  • Use every potion: There is no reason to save them anymore
  • Know the boss's patterns: Put in reps to learn them
  • For multi-phase fights: Minimize damage taken in the first phase

Deck Requirements for Winning

Must-Haves

  • Damage scaling: Strength, Poison, Orbs, or other ongoing offense lift
  • Enough Block: You need defense that absorbs the big boss moves
  • Deck cycling: Compress the deck enough to draw key cards each turn

Nice to Have

  • Debuff application: Weak and Vulnerable reduce incoming and raise outgoing damage
  • Draw tools: Avoid empty hands and keep your options open
  • Extra Energy: Play more cards per turn

Final Boss Approach

Preparation

  • Rest Site: The final Rest Site is usually best spent healing
  • Potions: Bring in three or more if you can
  • Cards: If any dead cards remain, cut them at the last shop

In-Fight Decisions

  • Turn 1: Playing Powers takes top priority
  • Buffs and debuffs: Start your scaling early
  • HP management: If another phase is coming, plan ahead
  • Potions: Do not hesitate in tight spots

Post-Loss Review

If you lose, look back on these.

  • Where did the deckbuilding go wrong?
  • Which cards should you have picked?
  • Were your map choices right?
  • Did you time your potions correctly?
  • Could your card-play order have been better?
