Spell Type Overview
Noita's 514 spells fall into four main categories:

Early–Mid Game: Spark Bolt Family
Spark Bolt
- Mana cost: 5
- Effect: Straight electric projectile
- Rating: ★★★★☆
Best placement — Spark Cannon:
[Double Spell] → [Spark Bolt] → [Spark Bolt]
On a wand with cast delay ≤ 0.08s and recharge ≤ 0.17s, this fires 10+ shots per second.
Spark Bolt with Explosion
- Mana cost: 30
- Effect: Electric projectile + explosion on impact
- Rating: ★★★★★ (with Explosion Immunity)
Strictly better than plain Spark Bolt once you have Explosion Immunity.
Modifier Spells
Chainsaw
- Mana cost: 1
- Effect: −0.17s cast delay on the next spell
- Rating: ★★★★★
The single most important modifier. Two Chainsaws before a projectile effectively eliminates cast delay entirely. Include in almost every wand you build.

Add Mana
- Effect: Instantly restores 30 mana to the wand (carries a +0.17s cast delay penalty). Use as a mana recovery measure.
- Rating: ★★★☆☆
Explosion Spells
Never use without Explosion Immunity — self-damage is lethal at close range.
Bomb
- Mana cost: 50
- Effect: Large-radius explosion
- Rating: ★★★☆☆
Great for clearing corridors. Pair with a Homing modifier to keep it away from you.
Luminous Drill
- Mana cost: 10
- Effect: Piercing damage + destroys terrain
- Rating: ★★★★☆
Digs through walls and damages enemies simultaneously. Keep one slot in your wand for safe exploration.
Homing Spells
Homing modifier
- Effect: Adds homing capability to the next projectile spell, causing it to track nearby enemies automatically
- Rating: ★★★★☆ (especially in boss fights)
Curves around corners — excellent for hitting bosses before they enter your line of sight.
Magic Arrow
- Mana cost: 20
- Effect: High-speed, high-damage straight bolt
- Rating: ★★★★★
Outperforms Spark Bolt in range and damage. First choice if found early.
Advanced: Chainsaw Loop
[Chainsaw] → [Spark Bolt w/ Explosion] → [Chainsaw] → [Add Mana] → (wraparound)
Chainsaw cuts cast delay, Add Mana covers the mana cost, and wraparound returns to the next Chainsaw — creating a near-infinite rapid-fire loop.
