Slay the Spire 2 Ironclad Tips and FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Strength build vs Exude build: which is stronger?
It depends on the situation. The Strength build is simple and consistent. The Exude build has explosive potential once the pieces come together, but it falls apart if you cannot draw the key cards (Havoc, Feel No Pain, etc.). Adapt based on what your early card picks actually offer.
Q. When should I play Offering?
Usually right at the start of the turn. The HP cost stings, but the value of +2 Energy and 3 card draw is enormous. It is especially strong on the opening turn of a boss fight, combined with Power card deployment.
Q. What are the risks of Havoc?
Havoc sets every Skill to 0 cost, but each one is Exuded after use. If you have Feel No Pain, you generate Block while burning through those Skills, and Dark Embrace keeps your draw flowing. Used alone, Havoc can strip your deck of every Skill and leave you stuck.
Overlooked Synergies
- Barricade + Body Slam: A Block-accumulating finisher. Because Block carries over between turns, Body Slam's damage scales explosively.
- Rupture + self-damage cards: Trigger Rupture with Offering, Brutality, Hemokinesis, and similar cards to pile on Strength.
- Reaper + Strength: Reaper's whole-party heal scales with Strength too. HP management becomes dramatically easier.
- Will-o-Wisp + Exude build: Every Exuded Skill grants a random card, so your hand never runs dry.
Advanced Techniques
- Campfire upgrade priority: Bash (upgraded Vulnerable duration) and Offering (upgraded to 5 draw) are among the most impactful upgrades you can take.
- Deck size management: Aim for around 15 cards. Draw consistency on your key pieces changes drastically.
- HP management in Elite fights: Factor in the healing from Burning Blood (the starting Relic) so you can afford to cut it closer.
- Exude count scaling: Ash Strike scales with the number of cards you have Exuded, so stacking Exudes early pays off with massive damage later.
