Burn

Add 1 stack of burn on hit for {[burn_length]} seconds (max {[max_burn_stacks]} stacks). Burnt units are dealt {[min_burn_damage]}-{[max_burn_damage]} damage per stack per second.

Rating

Burn is the AoE/fire-build cornerstone. With 9+ evolution paths and Sun (Burn + Light) widely considered the best ball in the game, Burn rivals Bleed for the title of strongest evolution material. Sun stands out because it provides AoE and status damage without requiring further fusion — a uniqueness that earns its "broken" reputation.

Solo Burn is C-tier; the burn DoT is reliable but unspectacular. As an evolution material, however, it competes with Bleed for the throne. If your run is leaning AoE-first, Burn outclasses Bleed.

Evolution Paths

Sun = Burn + Light [S · Best Ball in Game]

AoE damage and status effect in one ball, no further fusion required. Considered the most broken evolution in the meta.

Magma = Burn + Earthquake [S · Zoning]

Drops persistent lava blobs that DoT and apply up to 3 burn stacks. Permanent area-denial that locks down enemy waves.

Inferno = Burn + Wind [S · AoE DoT]

2-tile radius burn application, lasts 6 seconds, 3–6 dmg/stack/sec. Devastating against grouped enemies.

Frozen Flame = Burn + Freeze [S · Debuff Amp]

Applies a +25% damage taken debuff to all enemies. Pair with Hemorrhage or Nosferatu and bosses melt instantly.

Berserk = Burn + Charm [S · AoE]

Damage-amplifier evolution (also makeable from Bleed + Charm). Excels in group combat.

Bomb = Burn + Iron [A · AoE Burst]

Highest single-explosion AoE damage in the early game (150–300). The strongest first-evolution target if Iron drops early.

Banished Flame = Burn + Dark [B · Niche]

Situational. Build-dependent.

Brimstone = Burn + Poison [C · Niche]

DoT-stack hybrid, outclassed by Virus.

Fireworks = Burn + Egg Sac [C · Niche]

Visual flair, low efficiency.

Playstyle Tips

  • Bomb (Burn + Iron) is one of the strongest early closers — prioritize if Iron drops first
  • For mid-game pivot to Sun (Burn + Light) — Light is a base ball so secure it from any shop appearance
  • Frozen Flame's +25% global damage debuff turns Hemorrhage and Nosferatu into game-ending nukes
  • Magma + Inferno coexist beautifully: zone control + spread burn = full crowd lockdown

TL;DR

Burn is the foundation of every AoE/fire run. Half its 9+ evolutions are S-tier. Sun is the best solo, Bomb is the fastest, Frozen Flame is the best amp. Tied with Bleed as best first-pick base ball.
